The 2015 Business of the Year recipient, Jack’s Restaurant and Bar, owned by Jack Loconsolo, has been a strong member of the Dana Point business community since it opened its doors in 1997.
A Brooklyn, NY native, Jack Loconsolo has been in the restaurant business for over 30 years. He was raised in a family who owned their own restaurant, Amare’s Pizzeria. Jack also worked at the famous John’s Pizza on Bleeker Street in Greenwich Village in Manhattan. Home of the original coal-fired brick oven pizza.
To hone his culinary skills, Jack attended The New York City Culinary Institute, formerly known as the New York Restaurant School. In the summer of 1990, Jack was asked by a friend to come to CA to help open a restaurant called De Mario’s in Monarch Bay Plaza. He helped his friend for 7 years until he ventured out on his own and eventually opened his own restaurant. In 1997, that bold business venture would become Jack’s Restaurant & Bar in Dana Point at the former Daddy O’s location on Del Prado. The rest is history – For 18 years, Jack has delighted his patrons with delicious Italian Cuisine influenced by flavors from the southern city of Bari in Italy where his Grandfather is from. Fun fact, Jack’s eggplant parmesan, which is loved by all is a recipe from his Irish Grandmother!
Jack has been an incredibly generous member of our community. He has supported numerous local non-profits including the Dana Point 5th Marine Regiment and the Ocean Institute. During construction on Del Prado, Jack was instrumental in keeping neighboring businesses updated on roadwork as well as new marketing opportunities. For instance, Jack, along with 2014 Citizen of the Year Nancy Jenkins, were essential in organizing the first Del Prado Art Walk in 2015. His innovative spirit and devotion to Dana Point’s economic vitality solidifies his place as a local community leader.
Jack met his Australian wife Sharon here in CA. They have two children Olivia, 16 and John, 14 who can be found at the restaurant helping in the family business from time to time. Swing by Jack’s Restaurant to enjoy some amazing food and congratulate Jack Loconsolo and his staff.
